The Falcons have signed Devonta Freeman to a five-year, $41.25m deal through 2022. Here’s how the extension affects the running back group as a whole. A young boy from the bottom. You put that work in & stay humble, you'll be rewarded. All glory to GOD🙏🏾 Now we just gotta go get the trophy! —…

Just as a footnote, Brian Hill was taken out of the first preseason game with a possible concussion, and Terron Ward played well. Not good news for Hill, but on the other hand, it moves him closer to possibly being claimed by another team, which would probably put him on a better path toward seeing the field.
If you are a Tevin Coleman owner, another situation to pay attention to is Ty Montgomery, who also has the sickle cell trait, and may have been given limited work last year because of it. If the view of NFL medical staff is that these guys can't be trusted with heavy carries, that could make it more likely that he would accept less money or a committee role in 2019, and even opens the possibility that he could stay with the Falcons. I think it's most likely that a team will give him a feature role in free agency. But it's an issue that could affect his decision-making & his opportunities down the road.
