I play in a 10 man league with a relatively deep starting roster 1QB 3WR 2RB 1TE 2Flex and 1SuperFlex(QB)
My roster now is:
How should I value a TE that isn't actually starting in the TE spot?
Most of the ranking systems I see have Ertz and Kelce high, but I feel that is mostly because of their value in the TE spot.
Would Ertz in the flex be worth more than say Golden Tate?
Any insight as to how you would go about valuing them would be amazing, becuase I'll also take into consideration that others will have holes without one of them in their starting roster.

For flex spots, just play the guy with the highest projection. Unless ther is a TE bonus, that usually is not a TE.

Ertz is worth more to other teams than to you as there are probably a handful of teams starting terrible TEs. You on the other hand don’t even have to start him.
If you want to consider trading Ertz, I’d say you can aim higher than Tate.
But you also have to weigh that against the insurance of having a stud TE to start even if one gets injured locking in that positional advantage over every other team in the league bar the Gronk owner.
