Thought I would kick this off ahead of waivers tomorrow. I'm 6-5 in full PPR. Need to win one of last 2 to guarantee playoffs. Both of my remaining opponents are ahead of me and in playoffs.
Potential moves for wk 12:
1. Drop RSJ (have Njoku) for a 'blocker' QB- this wk's opponent only has Mahomes rostered.
2. Just read Dumpster Dives and wondered if @DumpsterDiveFF would drop Ito Smith for Curtis Samuel (I have Funchess & lost out on DJ Moore)
3. Grab a spare D/ST for playoff- WAS, IND & DAL all on waivers. I own Titans. Could drop my kicker until the wknd to do so.
Any thoughts from the forum crew?

To me, Ito Smith is nothing more than a T. Coleman handcuff. So if I didn't have Coleman, I would def take Samuel > Smith.
For the "Blocker QB"... I do that all the time!
& I typically stream DST's so if you like someones schedule the weeks you dont like the Titans, then why not?

@DumpsterDiveFF, Here is my roster, I am 9-2 with 1st rd bye locked up.
QB: Rodgers, LJAX
RB: Bark, CMC, Chubb, Mack, Kerryon, Rex, Josh Adams, Malcolm Brown
WR: MT, Juju, Keke, Smokey, Josh Reynolds
DE: Lawrence, Hunter
My starting lineup most days is - Rodgers, bark, cmc, mt, juju, chubb, Kerryon, ertz.
Question is, how do I optimize for playoffs...
1. do I roster Lamar? I might start him this week against OAK but that's about it.
2. Should I blow my faab and acquire Tre;quan by dropping JB (or should I give him another week). and drop Lamar.
3. Drop Josh Adams for Gus Edwards or Curtis Samuel?
4. I don't roster a D/ST as of now, as I am getting away without it and don't need one until playoffs.
I typically have only 1 player for a onesie position in a 12 team league. But I am holding on Hunter and Ljax as a defensive move, but I don't want to miss out on difference makers down the stretch. What do you suggest?

1) I would say Lamar is 50/50. Definitely drop-able when you have A-Rod
2) I LOVE Tre'quan Smith and would much rather have him over either Lamar Jackson or (now) John Brown.
3) considering your RB/WR depth IMO it goes Curtis Samuel>Gus Edwards>Josh Adams
4) I dont normally deal with IDP so keep that in mind - but if DE is stream-able you are likely going to want to grab a DST for the playoffs and stream that onesie. If it isn't I would drop Lamar Jackson for sure. In the playoffs, you want to maximize point potential and filling every spot is going to be key.

@Will I would probably do that. Kind of a jerk move, but RSJ isn't helping anyone, and Njoku should suffice at TE. Agreed with @DumpsterDiveFF re: Samuel > Ito Smith. I like the idea of hoarding D/STs at this time of the season. As the playoffs near and bye weeks end, we can afford to shorten our benches a bit to block our opponents and maximize our D/ST matchups through the playoffs.
@turndownforwatt I agree with @DumpsterDiveFF on the pecking order of Curtis Samuel vs the scrubbing backs. I'm actually intrigued by Lamar Jackson. I think it's within his range of outcomes to put on a crazy streak of rushing and passing production that could win some leagues. At the very least, you don't want to face that in the playoffs.
So I got cute and traded Njoku for Christian Kirk at the deadline (it's a PPR keeper league, but Kirk wasn't going to start a game for me this year unless things went horribly, horribly wrong with my top 6 receivers, of whom up to 4 can start in a given week). I figured, "hey, it's cool... I have OJ Howard, and he's emerging as a solid, mid-range TE1." Well, now I'm forced to put in desperate bids for Vance McDonald, Cameron Brate and Jonnu Smith. Which would you rather have?
I'm putting in rather large bids on these guys, as I have plenty of FAAB left, and they're the last three useful TEs on the wires (unless you count Benjamin Watson or RSJ...).
I wish I could put in a bid for Tre'Quan Smith, but I need the roster spot for the new TE, and the last guy on my bench is Rashaad Penny. I think Penny is slowly, quietly starting to emerge, and he has the potential to be a great keeper if he does.

Phillip, thanks for your tips. I put in max bid for Tre'quan. Since I have MT, he is also a handcuff of sorts. I am going to drop Lamar and JB to get Tre and Samuel.
DE is tough to stream, but I have two elite ones. This is where we are trying to maximize points so to speak, but also limit other teams'.
With a bye guaranteed, I have to look at 15/16 weeks primarily. Thanks again.

I will get Tre'Quan in your spot. I will pay money for him and keep Penny as well. Tre has very good keeper value with that offense.
I will try to find someone else to drop and get a TE. Brate> Vance > Jonnu for me. I am sure you can get a TE for a much smaller FAAB. There is no need to blow it on a TE. Remember that your opponent is also streaming a TE, either you have an advantage (ertz, Kelce, gronk) or its a wash. I don't think its +EV to go all in for a position that can very well be a push.
Edit: In one of my leagues, I am rolling with Heuerman. He gets a ton of targets in RZ and their schedule is fairly easy.

Thanks for the tips! I don't think there's anyone else on my roster to drop.
Here's my lineup:
QB: Goff and Mayfield (Mayfield just for now)
RB: Melvin Gordon, Chubb, Coleman, Penny
WR: Adams, Beckham, Diggs, Sanders, Cooper, D.J. Moore, Christian Kirk
TE: VACANT! (not counting OJ Howard, who's in my IR slot)
I think Penny is on the end of my bench, and nobody else seems droppable for Smith, at least until Goff gets back from his bye. I could be silly and drop the Ravens and then hope to win without a defense this week (I've already clinched the playoffs, so it's mostly just the points title and the playoff seeding I'm going for now).

Trying to pick up Lamar Jackson for Pat Mahomes’s bye week. Who would you drop?
I don’t start either guy. Would only come to play as a FLEX if I get an injury or 2. Seems to me like a ceiling (MVS) vs floor (Snead) decision. What would you rather have on your playoff roster?
#10 By: Phillip Caldwell, November 20th, 2018 20:25
Ouch... That sucks when that happens.
good luck, I am right there with you in the hunt for TEs. I traded for OJ Howard two weeks ago...

Hey guys, how do you rank these WR for ROS/Playoffs?
Kirk, Keke, Sutton, MVS, Reynolds and Samuel?
I have Keke, Sutton and MVS and the other 3 are available at waivers
Tks in advance!

Are Crabtree and Brown droppable in PPR. I have Antonio, ODB, AJ Green, Diggs and DJMoore.
Zero RB (Lindsay, Freeman, Burkhead, Collins). Drop a Ravens receiver for Ekeler/Malcolm Brown/Latavius for playoff weeks? I

One of my takeaways from this season is that depth isn't too important at WR beyond the top tier. When you happen to need a WR to plug in, there's always someone unowned with a good matchup that week and hope for a decent game.
With that in mind, I'd prefer the players in the best offenses over the others, so MVS/Reynolds in one tier and the rest in the next.

@bamcunningham Ravens WRs feel droppable if you need the production elsewhere. They are clearly going to run and run- the new Seattle perhaps? Bit of a turnaround from earlier this year with Air Flacco and Brown, etc. You have a strong WR core and the three RBs you mention could add valuable depth for playoffs.
Or grab another D/ST with a favourable playoff schedule. I'm 6-5 and not guaranteed to get in, but have Titans & Colts rostered to help me play the matchups.

First off, Happy Thanksgiving! Great article, as with every week. Haven't posted for a while, looking to shore up a playoff run in 0.5 PPR league. Rostering Luck and Winston at QB; RBs Kamara, Ingram, Conner, Coleman, and Ekeler; WRs Beckham, Evans, Boyd, and MVS; TEs Gronk and Doyle; DSTs Ravens and Bills.
Please tell me if I'm wrong, but I'll probably go Luck the rest of the way, so drop Winston for a WR with upside? Waivers thin but Watkins, Reynolds, Amendola, Gabriel, and @DumpsterDiveFF special Samuel (big fan of Dumpster Dive articles, btw--led me to Boyd and MVS pre-breakout) are all available. Any thoughts on best option for ROS? Or, stand pat and carry 2nd QB? One other thing--any wisdom in picking up Spencer Ware instead of a WR here as a hedge against Hunt injury going forward?

Huzzah! Thats exactly what I hope to do with Dumpster Dives!
As much as I like Samuel, I like Josh Reynolds even more! He would be my top WR target in your situation.
As for Spencer Ware, now is the time I like to start nabbing handcuffs, but only if I have the bench spot avail. So that's your call.
